KODOMO Ramsar was held at Yonago City in Tottori prefecture and Izumo City in Shimane prefecture on November 17th and 18th, 2006. 31 children, including the KODOMO leader Shouichi Higuchi (from Nakaumi), Kenju Yamamoto (from Biwa-ko), Kaishu Takara (from Manko), Joo Ho-Gyeum (from Woopo Wetland, Korea), Lee Seung Kyung (from Shiwa Lake, Korea), local children from Nakaumi and Shinjiko, and more children from Akiyoshidai, Mikata-goko, Iwaguni City, and Shunan City participated in the program.

Children¡Çs presentations and discussions under various topics related to wetlands took place at Yonago Waterfowl Sanctuary in Tottori on November 17th. As usual, Mr. Daisuke Nakamura, an elementary school teacher from Shiga, served as a facilitator of the discussions. Children representatives showed their opinions, listened to other children¡Çs ideas, and actively joined in the discussions.

On the 18th, children visited the nature center near Shinji-ko, observed and learned about the living creatures inhabiting in the area. They cooked their own lunch by using fish and shellfish caught from Shinji-ko. After a long discussion, they came up with the following KODOMO Message:

The next KODOMO Ramsar activity will be held at Niigata on December 2nd and 3rd.
