Message of Children and Teachers
on the Wetland Conservation and Education,
Dafeng, China, 2004

We, the children and teachers from China, Japan and Korea have gathered and visited wetlands in three respective countries since 2002 as a part of Asian Wetland Week (AWW) activities. By visiting wetlands in various places in three countries, we have learned a lot:

We have amazing experiences in visiting wetlands, enjoying beautiful sites, and finding many animals and plants there.
We find out that the wetlands in each countries have problems.
We find out that everybody has basically the same thought on wetlands regardless of their locations.
We make friends with those from other countries by visiting wetlands.
We recognize the necessity of actions for conserving wetlands and cooperation with our friends beyond boundary of countries and the difference of languages.
We wish to join for the actions.

Therefore, we, the children and teachers from China, Japan and Korea, send a message to all people :

We need to know, learn, and join actions for the wise use of wetlands.
We encourage China, Japan and Korea, which have flyways of migratory birds, to promote international cooperation for their protection.
We request China, Japan, and Korea to promote the exchange of children and teachers in three countries, as a part of international cooperation on the wise use of wetlands.
Finally, we request China, Japan and Korea to form a network of wetland teachers in the Northeast Asia to facilitate exchange of ideas on the wetland education.
