Thale Noi Lake, the first Ramsar Site in Thailand, has reached the

as one of the main events for celebrating the anniversary, World Wetlands
Day, and the Asian Wetlands Week 2004. Following the Wetland Camp, a forum
was organized to deepen understandings about wetlands among the general
public, local communities, authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
The keynote address was given by a representative of the Ministry of Natural
Resources and Environment under the title of "From the Mountains to
the Sea: Wetlands at Work for Us". Discussions took place at the forum
on "5 years of Kuan Kee Sian under the Ramsar Convention", and
the final presentation was given on "Conservation and Management of
Saroma Lake" by Mr. Kimihiko Maekawa, the Chief Researcher of Aquaculture
Cooperation of Saroma Lake, Hokkaido, Japan. |
