| Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary held an Environmental Education Program for the Kota Kinabalu Bird Sanctuary Teacher Support Group in conjunction with the World Wetland Day and Asian Wetlands Week 2004. In total, 32 teachers from various local schools have participated in the event. The Kota Kinabalu Bird Sanctuary is an important refuge for many migratory birds including sandpipers and plovers, which stop by the sanctuary between September and April. During the event, teachers actively participated in various environmental education activities such as interpretive walk through the bird sanctuary, and cleaning up rubbish in mangrove forests as a hands-on experience. |
